Reflections of our Tennessee Weekend
Our time in Tennessee this past weekend for the Tennessee Champions Weekend is a time we will never forget! This was our first attendance at a BFL event, and we were not disappointed! As the weekend drew near, we were having doubts about going at all. Neither my husband nor I felt like we deserved to be there, as we both had fallen so far off the path of our tiptop shape! I am so thankful we decided to go, despite our reservations! This weekend was just what we needed, not only as a couple (to get away for a change), but as an eye opener to revelations about ourselves! We came home with a renewed energy and zest to do better than ever before! We had so much fun getting to know people who share the same common bond we've learned from BFL. We had many laughs, tears and yes grunts of pain (leg press competition!) on this fabulous ride! We do regret not mingling more, as we are both rather reserved people until we get to know others. It's time like these that I wish we were a bit more bold, as I know we missed out on meeting and getting to know some great people!
The scheduled speakers were fabulous and there are a couple of quotes that will always ring in my ears as a reminder of the keys to success:
"Look to others for inspiration, NOT motivation." This confused me at first, but as Stephen went on to explain, I understood what he was saying. YOU are your own motivation! I know this line hit home with several other people I talked to.
Deana touched my heart with her story. Some of you that have followed my blog for a while know of my childhood issues and my will to conquer and rise above. I felt a kind of connection to Deana just from her words as it is apparent that she is no victim, but a survivor filled with strength, courage and heart. Her transformation has been fantastic, but it's also her inner transformation that has risen her above reprieve!
My husband connected to Eric's story, that was told so well and with such lightness. You can't help but to admire his determination and success!
Mary was a bit humble, but her story hit home from a mother's standpoint. I'm so proud of her for taking control of her life and body and for being so resourceful!
Mike was just full of tips and helpful inside tidbits about WHY we are doing this. It was such a delight to hear his forthrightness!
"What's your excuse?" I'm sure this quote had to have been extremely impactful when Jared said it, and I'm sorry to have missed it. I'm so glad that story was repeated for us to hear, as it has still left an imprint!
I stepped out and missed Russ's phone call and Linda, so I apologize for not addressing those!
Whether you are a long-time BFLer or someone just starting out, I would highly recommend attending the next event. If you weren't already fired up when you got there, you will be by the time you leave!
