Friday the 13th - The Day From Hell

Let me tell you about my day from hell. I do have to preface it by saying that yesterday was 65 degrees here, over the last weekend it hit 70. What the heck? It should be 30 or below. Well today the temps took a nosedive at around 34 degrees, and that's all fine and dandy till I get in my Jeep to leave for work. At that moment I realized the vents are only blowing out cold air. No heat, no defroster. And it's snowing. Great...just great. An hour drive each way in 30 something degrees. I get to work and call Bobby. He's a service technician at the dealer that we bought it about 6 months ago. He talks to his manager to see what they can do since we just bought it there. $500 is what they can do. Gee...thanks for the help dude! Personally I think his manager is ticked at him for something that happened yesterday that Bobby kind of called him on (not going to go into that are this will be even longer!). So one of the other techs tells Bobby to just get the parts and they can do it at his house. See, I have no doubt Bobby can fix it, but we don't have a garage, so it was really nice of this guy to offer. Don't have the money for parts, but we'll figure that one out somehow. At lunchtime I go out and put cardboard over my windshield to help keep it from icing over. When I come back in, my boss tells me that she talked to our VP's and they are all agreed that I should leave early because they know I have an hour drive and they don't want me driving home in the dark with the windshield and windows freezing over. Don't worry about making up the time, don't worry about using vacation time, etc. - just go. That was so unexpected and so nice! So I get out to the Jeep (the cardboard was gone, blown out from under the wipers), start it up, get out and go to open the back door to get the ice scraper only to discover that I must have hit the remote in the ignition getting out and all of the doors locked. I have a hearing problem so I didn't hear the alarm reset. So now I have a non-heating, non defrosting locked and running vehicle on the company parking lot. An hour away from home, an hour away from Bobby and the extra set of keys. By this point, I'm crying....have to go back in the office and my boss of course is surprised to see me again so soon. I somehow tell her what happened while I'm picking up the phone to call Bobby. Bobby says don't call a locksmith, he'll have to finish up and he'll come get me. By the time I got off the phone, my boss had already called a locksmith who could be there in 10 minutes. My boss says not to worry about it, she'll take care of it and I can pay her back anytime. $45 for a freaking 5 minute drive, and two minutes to pop the lock. I had to call in to my second job, ask them to find someone else, because there is no way I'm going anywhere but home! That boss didn't sound too happy...but I'm miffed anyway because she just cut my hours again (9 lousy hours a week at minumum wage hardly seems worth the aggravation!), so if I lose that job.......what have I lost? Good news is, since I'm not working my second job tonight, I don't have to reschedule my UBWO!
Anyway, I just needed to vent..and that about sums up my day from hell!
