What I've Been Up To
I haven't updated my blog in quite a while because it doesn't seem that many people go through the Blogs as much as they used to, including me. Plus....I haven't had anything really exciting to report.BFL Update: BFL is going pretty good. I've been doing a 6 week mini-challenge with Suzanne. I'm making progress with this challenge, but I feel so far away from where I was that I get stuck in a depressional mode about it. I keep regressing and I have to keep my head on straight at ALL times in order to do this!
Quitting smoking is tough. I am still not 100% smoke free...I just can't do it like that. But....I have cut back to where I'm going through maybe 1 pack every week and a half or so. I was having a pack every 2 days before cutting. Bobby has managed to stay smoke free for exactly one month though, and I'm so proud of him! I really thought I'd be able to quit easier than him because he smoked more, but I was so wrong about that!
Finances continue to be a struggle and I've been really trying to find ways to save money so that we can get a bigger house maybe in a year or two. We really wanted to move this coming spring, but that's not going to happen. I know we have to get rid of some of our debts before we can move. I tried to downsize our SUV into a car, but that didn't work out very well. We owe too much on the Jeep, so we refinanced it instead...which is saving us about $100 a month. Next....we've switched our cable over to satellite and changed our phone and internet services over to another provider. This will save us another $40 a month. We wouldn't have satellite or cable at all if we could get regular t.v. without them....but we can't get any reception without one or the other where we live. Next.....we will have our 2nd vehicle paid off in the spring. That will save another $300 a month, plus we will have 2 small debts paid off...so we're up to $500 a months savings. The hard part of course will now through the end of the year. We have to come up with $800 for real estate taxes, and I'm guessing about $300-350 for personal property taxes. Then there's Christmas. Cheapest way there is to budget only $100 per person, but with 6 people in our family, that's $600. That doesn't include our parents or anything. All of this keeps going through my mind over and over again. I'm having problems sleeping because I keep running through it all again to see where else I can cut so that we can save money monthly.
I know in a realistic sense, we cannot possibly move within a year....but I keep daydreaming about a bigger house anyway!
