Kind of Bummed
I have been waiting on pins and needles for something that I've desperately wanted for quite some time. I've applied for another position at my company. I've wanted to go to this department for three years. It is a management position in our IS department for technical support and design. Three years ago I couldn't go because no one, and I mean NO ONE knew how to handle what I was doing, and what I was doing touched approximately 65% of our business. So they wouldn't let me go. Positions in this area don't come around very often, so I jumped at the chance this past fall when the position was first posted. Well, for weeks I didn't hear anything, till finally I couldn't stand it any longer and contacted the hiring manager. The position ended up getting cut due to budgets. Well, it was posted again on February 14th, so I applied for it yet again. The posting was up for 10 days, ending last Thursday. Even though I already work for the company, anyone who is qualified still has to go through an interview process. Thing is, you are not guaranteed an interview. So ok...when I want something really, really bad, I get impatient. So I called the hiring manager yesterday (I've worked on projects with her in the past, so it wasn't a blind call.) I'm not sure if this was a wise decision because a manager either looks at it as a good thing because it shows you have a great interest, or the manager doesn't appreciate the call because they consider it outside of the procedure. So it could go either way. I have a friend who works in the Dallas office who also applied. The manager told me yesterday morning that she hoped to start setting up interviews yesterday afternoon. I still haven't received a call, but neither has my friend. We are both highly qualified, but secretely I was hoping I'd have the edge because they wouldn't have to relocate me. But now...I'm wondering if I'll even get an interview. Guys.....I can't tell you HOW MUCH I WANT THIS! Cross your fingers for me and send good vibes my way, because I really need it about now!
